On Thursday, August 20th, 2020, a webinar was carried out as part of the STOREM project on the subject of the challenges for sustainable tourism in the post-pandemic of Coronavirus. Modulated by Dr. Edgar Villegas of the University of Magdalena, the discussion brought together the knowledge of experts invited from Colombia and Costa Rica, including Dr. Mario Socatelli (UCI), Dr. Esteban Barboza (UNA), Dr. Laura Rojas (EAFIT) and Dra. Julieth Lizcano (UniMagdalena). The webinar had a duration of 150 minutes and was attended by an audience of over 50 participants.
The discussion was formatted to pose a series of questions about the challenges of post-pandemic tourism, to which each of the invited participants had 5 minutes to respond. Some of the questions included: Has Covid-19 killed tourism? What are the risks of a flawed new tourism model? Why will management be important for sustainable management? How should touristic packages be transformed? What will the profiles be of tourists (travelers) post-pandemic?
To find out more about the ideas discussed, the recorded video of the discussion on Zoom is available to view on YouTube.
