UNA Launches New Master in Tourism and Sustainable Development

The National University of Costa Rica (UNA) launched the first virtual academic master’s degree focused on tourism and sustainable development, which seeks to prepare professionals who promote better tourism practices through the generation of new knowledge, innovation and creativity. UNA has open enrollment for its next generations and has its own scholarship program.

The general objective of the master’s degree is to train professionals with a critical and reflective perspective on the reality of tourism and sustainable development in the global space, with a focus on Latin America, mainly Mesoamerica and the Caribbean. In addition, the master’s degree has the following specific objectives: 1) Develop a critical and reflective perspective on the reality of tourism on a global scale; 2) Develop skills in scientific research in the field of sustainable tourism, to act as an academic and in research in public and private institutions of higher education; 3) Strengthen leadership skills and competencies, creativity, ethics, and innovation for sustainable tourism management.
